About our Governors
Dr Nick Gibbins
Mr Dominic Collinson-Hollinghurst
Mr John Draper
“I have over 25 years experience of working in primary schools. During my own education, there were 240 of us in my year at secondary school, of whom 3 went onto higher education. The injustice and waste of talent underlying that statistic is the driving force that makes me want to do a far better job for the next generation of young people- I am proud of what we have achieved at Swaythling in terms of improving the life chances of the children and families we serve. I see the work of the governors as key to further improvement.”
Mr Martin Rae
“I joined Swaythling Primary School in 2015 as a co-opted governor. As being a school governor involves working with a lot of data, it seemed to fit perfectly with my engineering skill set.
For the last 5 years, I have worked as an engineer in a casting business solving problems to reduce the cost to manufacture products, and running projects to develop new parts and equipment. In this time, I have had the opportunity to develop other skills such as: people and customer management, dealing with financial data and managing teams.
Before starting my career, I studied Engineering at university to gain a BEng (Hons) Engineering in Business.
I find being a school governor valuable and enjoyable. I have been able to give direction from a different perspective but it has also provided me the opportunity to have exposure to different situations .
I believe that Swaythling Primary School has a great caring ethos and high expectations which will help the children develop a bright future. As a team, we will work towards ensuring the school can continue to go from strength to strength.”
Mrs Sarah Dockree
“My husband and I came to live in Swaythling in 2014 and have 3 children at the school in Yrs 2 and 5. I have previously worked as a paediatric physiotherapist in both hospital and community settings, including 3 years spent establishing community therapy services in rural Nigeria. I am not working currently but am involved in various local activities as well as being a trustee of a small mental health charity. I am passionate about providing opportunities and possibilities which enable and empower all children to reach their full potential both in and out of school and hope I can bring this passion to the role of school governor.”
